Lawang (Clove) Oil

Relieves Toothache and Fights Cavities

Introduction :

The essential oil of Clove is obtained from the Syzygium aromaticum flower buds, leaves and stem. This analgesic and antimicrobial oil is extremely useful in dentistry, owing to considerable percentage of Eugenol, as it helps in relieving pain of toothache.

When mixed with appropriate base oils, Clove Oil also helps in acne and other skin infections. Owing to its significant anti-tyrosinase1 activity, Clove Oil has skin-whitening effect as well. Clove Oil should not be used directly on the Skin or mucous membrane; it is required to be mixed in suitable base (carrier) oil, cream, lotion or water, before being applied on to skin or mucosa.

  • Besides being a potent anaesthetic and analgesic, Eugenol, is chief active component, possesses significant antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and cardioprotective properties. It is an excellent penetration-enhancer3 as well, which helps in better skin-penetration of ointment and creams, applied locally. It has acaricidal activity as well, which makes it extremely useful as a topical agent for the treatment of Scabies.

Lawang (Clove) Oil is extremely useful in the following conditions:

  • Toothache
  • Dental Sensitivity
  • Protection against Dental Caries & Tooth Decay
  • Gargles of Clove Oil diluted in water soothe the throat and allay bad breath
     

Direction for use:

Soak cotton plug in 2-4 drops of clove oil and keep over affected tooth for few minutes. Repeat this procedure 3-4 times in a day.
